Resources and Economies

Our day began with our inquiry into How We Organise Ourselves. The children completed their research on their 4th Canadian geographic region. We discussed what resources are and the distinction between renewable and non-renewable resources. The class does not clearly understand the distinction and we will continue on working towards greater understating this week. The children also shared what they had learned about economies and taxes this weekend. Continue talking to your child about these concepts.
The class attended gym, music, and French today.
In spelling, the class began working on list 27 spelling words. They also worked on arithmetic review work.
In math, grade 3s had a strategy lesson where they used working backward as a strategy to solve a problem. Grade 4s compared and ordered fractions. They used pattern blocks and pictures to help them.
We ended the day writing our language test. Extra time was used to work on arithmetic.
