Commas

Grade 3s began their day with a math test. Grade 4s continued to explore angles in quadrilaterals. They are becoming more comfortable using a protractor to measure angles in a closed figure. They are also using geometry terms to describe their thinking. Many of these terms will be on their spelling test this week. No MMS homework has been assigned yet as we have not completed our class lesson yet.
Both grades worked on list 9 spelling words. In arithmetic, students practised counting money amounts with 25 cents.
We did not get through our poetry lessonn today, as it was time to have our pictures taken.
In language, we learned 3 rules about how commas are used in sentences.

  • Commas are used after a yes or no at the beginning of a sentence
  • Commas are used after a person's name in a direct address
  • Commas are used to separate cities from states or cities from provinces
