A Guest Visitor

The children had a surprise visitor for our inquiry unit this morning. Mrs. Glaucia Padovan, a nutritionist, shared a slide show with the class on the food groups, numbers of servings, and nutrition. She clealry explained the difference between ingredients and nutrients. The children heard many tips to help them make healthier food choices. Ask your child to tell you what they learned.
Students worked on spelling list 34 and language. In language we reviewed nouns and the subject of a sentence. We also discussed verbs and adjectives so as to help students better identify nouns.
Students completed arithmetic practice where they learned about measuring temperature in degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit. Ask you child to tell you about important temperature benchmarks such as the boiling and freezing points of water as well as the normal body temperature for people.
Students attended gym, French, and music class today.
In math, grade 3s continued reviewing patterns in preparation for tomorrow's unit test. Grade 4s used patterns in drawings and tables as a strategy to solve word problems. They also practiced division where there is a pattern in the remainder.
We ended the day with students completing work from the day and grade 4s sharing their science fair progress with me.
