The Perfect Classroom

We began our day with our inquiry into healthy living. Today we discussed good and bad food triggers. Students analysed reasons they have for eating and classified good triggers and then came up with activities they could replace bad food triggers with. Ask your child to describe some of the food triggers we discussed in class, especially good food triggers. The children made a journal entry to describe their current eating patterns and their goals to make healthier food choices.
We began working on writing magazine articles in language. Students were introduced to this text form, and then prompted to write a article explaining what their perfect classroom is like. They brainstormed ideas before the began. They were eager to share their writing with the class.
Students attended gym class today.
In math, grade 3s created patterns with pattern blocks and attribute blocks where two attributes change. Grade 4s began a new unit on patterns in number and geometry. They reviewed concepts they learned in grade 3 and then created and extended repeating patterns.
We ended the day working on arithmetic, where students worked to find the fraction of a set.

Julia and Shannon have both shown action at home. Julia has been classifying her meals into the 4 food groups. Shannon used what she learned about PowerPoint during our How We Organise Ourselves unit to create a PowerPoint for her mom on Mother's Day. Well done girls!
