How Fit are You?

As part of our inquiry unit, students were asked if they thought they were active or fit. Students found their resting heart rates and then were challenged to complete a fitness test. Parts of the test included running or walking a mile in under 10 minutes, doing 1 pull up, running up a flight of stairs, doing 40 abdominal crunches in a minute, and being able to touch their toes when their legs are stretched out in front of them. Students measured their heart rates while doing all the activities and all noticed a difference.
Students worked on spelling and language. In language they read sentences where there was more than one subject and identified all the subjects in a sentence. They also learned about verbs and identified verbs in a sentence. Ask your child what a verb is and to compose a sentence with more than one subject and then identify the verb in the sentence. Students also worked on arithmetic review work.
Students attended gym and French class today.
In math, grade 3s wrote their unit test to show what they learned in their patterning unit. Grade 4s practised dividing a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number.
We ended the day checking on science fair progress and working on our Arts' Night performance.
