Nutrients

We worked on discovering what nutrients were and why we need them in our inquiry into healthy living this morning. Students used their research skills to create a mind map of the 6 nutrients, how much energy they give us, what they do for us, and examples of food we can find them in. Students worked with a partner to accomplish this task and made great progress.
Students wrote their list 33 spelling test today. This test and a number of others are coming home today. Please review all tests with your child over the weekend.
Students attended gym and French class today.
Students worked on finding 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, and 1/8 of a set in arithmetic today. They are becoming so good at this skill that it was unnecessary to teach a full lesson to them about this concept.
In math, grade 3s identified, created, and extended patterns on grids. Grade 4s learned about growing patterns in figures. They used pictures and tables to show their thinking and solve problems.
We ended the day with the grade 3s conducting their testing for the science fair. We got to to this activity outside on a gorgeous day! The children got a bit of sugar by finishing off the leftover pop from our experiment.
