Singular and Plural

Today we had our last lesson for our multiplication and division math unit. The grade 3s practiced calculator skills in today's lesson. The grade 4s used long division to solve division problems. Our MMS text instructs the children to use short division, but we will not be doing this as the children have not had enough time to master this method. Instead I have instructed the class to use long division as the strategy to solve these problems. We will work on short division  later in the school year in our arithmetic books.
The children attended gym class with Mr. Browning this morning. The boys did a fantastic job at speedy changing. The girls did much better too. Keep it up grade 3s and 4s!
Both grades worked on this week's spelling words. In arithmetic we continued reviewing concepts we have been learning about.
We had our third day of Christmas concert rehearsal today. Remember to send in money for your child's Christmas wand if you haven't already done so.
In language we learned about singular and plural words. The children learned that we add 's' to most words to change them to the plural form, unless they end in 'ch', 'sh', 's', 'x', or 'z', in which case we ad 'es'. The class got to enjoy 20 minutes of independent reading time.
Lunch forms and picture retakes are coming home today. Check your child's backpack for these items.
