Today, I (Mrs. Haag) resumed teaching all subjects for the grade 3 & 4 class. Yesterday was Mr. Browning's last day completing his grade 4 placement. We all miss him and enjoyed having him teach in our class. The good news is that the children will be seeing Mr.Browning daily starting Monday when he will teach gym.
We spent time in class reviewing solving for the unknown in an equation. With practice, this will become easier. In Math, the grade 4s practiced dividing by numbers 1 to 9. The grade 3s used arrays to divide. Because the children are so comfortable with this unit, we are spending extra time discussing what a level 1, 2, 3 or 4 answer looks like, and the various ways children can show their thinking.
The children had gym class with Ms. Lopez today. The boys are changing much quicker than the girls. Come on girls, show the boys you can do it just as fast!
The children wrote their list 14 spelling tests today. Tests are coming home today.
We spent most of the remainder of the day writing the good copies our journal entries. Six students have completed their good copies and used class time to get ahead in their homework. Many students are bringing their journal writing home for completion. Check your child's bag and agenda to see if they have to complete their writing at home.
We ended the day reflecting on our poetry, drama and dance unit for our IB portfolios.
