Artist's Cafe

SJA students heard that  ZBP is in the lead for the house competition. Well done Zeta! We had a quick game where students had to dribble a ball and shoot the basketball hoop.
Grade 3s and 4s started their day with math. Grade 4s worked on showing what they understand about geometry concepts using pattern blocks. Grade 3s worked cooperatively as a group to design and build a sand castle using 3-D solids.
Next up was the much awaited Artist's Cafe. Children took to the stage to perform Haiku's, sonnets, cinquain, free verse and quatrains and skits. We were treated to dances ranging from the Charleston, the waltz, Chinese traditional Peacock, ballet, tap, hip hop and break dancing. The children showed how well they have grasped the lines on inquiry which seemed so foreign at the beginning of this unit. Well done grade 3s and 4s! As we headed back to class, a student was overheard saying, "That was so much fun! Can we do another project?" The answer to that is yes, we can, more details on Monday when we start a new unit.
The children completed their spelling tests and worked on arithmetic. Tests will come home on Monday.
The children ended their day with a history lesson, where the learned about Jamestown. Ask your child to tell you what they remember about today's lesson.

Reminders:

  • Arithmetic p. 87 & 88
  • Parent-teacher conference letters
