Good Afternoon!
In the wild world of grade 3/4 we started the day off with Math Makes Sense. The grade 4's explored multiplication patterns to improve their mental math and multiplying large numbers. The grade 3's worked on multiplying by 10.
In gym, Mrs. Haag and I gave the students a lesson on how to get changed quickly without loosing their clothes, don't worry we kept our clothes on! Students are also reminded the longer they take to change the less gym time they have.
After gym we had an arithmetic and introduced the > greater than, < less than, and = equal to signs. 9 < 12, nine is less than twelve. 9 > 3, nine is greater than 3.
We had watched a short film on the three periods of the middle ages after drama and french. Students were required to draw a picture of something that represented the three different eras and answer a question. The film gave a great overview of the early, high and late middle ages.
We concluded the day writing an OWA journal entry. It's an Ontario Writing Assessment but does not go on the report cards. It gives us an indication on where the students are and what we have to teach them in the upcoming unit on journal writing.
