Barynya, Holzhacker & Riverdance

Grade 3s and 4s began their day with math. Grade 3s reviewed the figures they learned about yesterday and what a regular figure is. The know how to name a figure by the number of sides or angles it has. Today they used a Venn diagram to sort figures according to their attributes. They know how to write the sorting rule for a Venn diagram. Grade 4s used today's math time to finish and take up yesterday's classwork about similar figures.
In arithmetic, the children learned to count money amounts that include a half dollar. Grade 4s had time in class to work on spelling and arithmetic. Grade 3s needed extra time to get through their math and did not get class time to work on spelling or arithmetic.
In dance, we viewed video clips of Russian, German and Irish folk dances. We discussed the elements of dance for each folk dance, as well as the music and  costumes. Ask your child to describe the dances to you, as well as the feelings the dances created in the audience.
We ended our day reviewing what a review should contain. The children have a firmer understanding of this text form. We watched an animated version of Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm. The children will begin writing a review on this show tomorrow.
The children also attended gym, drama and music class today.
