Both grades worked on list 10 spelling words and arithmetic. They learned that they can check their division answers by multiplying the quotient and the divisor to get back to the dividend.
We began working on the dance component of our How We Express Ourselves Unit of Inquiry. Children worked with a partner to answer the following questions:
- What different forms of dance are there?
- Why do dances exits?
- What are the messages of dances.
Partners shared their thinking with the class.
We then viewed a video clip of a Phillipine dance called the Itik Itik. Ask your child what the form of dance the Itik Itik is, why this dance exists and what the message of the dance is.
Both grades ended the day with Math. Grade 3s practiced naming geometric figures such as trapezoids, parallelograms, rhombuses, pentagons, hexagons. They learned that a regular figure has all sides equal and all angles equal. They also learned about some the attributes of parallelograms, trapezoids, and rhombuses. Ask your child to tell you about the attributes of these figures. Grade 4s leaned that we say figures are similar if they have equal corresponding angles but their side lengths are different. The side lengths of the larger of 2 similar figures are multiples of the corresponding side lengths in the smaller figure.
Students attended gym, music and french class today.
