Grade 3s and 4s began their academic day working on math. Grade 3s worked on a strategy called solved a simpler pproblem. We used this strategy to to make as many trapezoids as possible using the seven tans in a tangram. Grade 4s spent time taking up the last 2 days math lessons on solids and their attributes.
Both grades wrote a spelling and arithmetic test. Tests are coming home today. Please take time to review the tests with your child.
The children learned about Mary, Queen of Scots in history today. They were fascinated by this story. Following on from last week's history lesson, children shared what they had discovered about Queen Beatrix of Holland. Braeden shared what he found out about the grizzly end of Gerard Balthazar, who killed William the Silent.
We ended the day facing Ms. Chin's class in a multiplication challenge. Ms Chin's class came out the victors, but we all won by having this fun way to practice our multiplication facts. Well done to both classes for enthusiasm you have showed. See you next month when the challenge includes multiplication facts up to 12 X 12. Keep practicing.
On Monday, our class is off to Toronto to watch Cinderella. Children need to come to school in their uniforms. They may bring a snack and a disposable water bottle along on the bus. We will have lunch when we return to school.
Reminders:
- sign and return spelling tests
- Think about ideas for your poetry/drama/dance project
